The impressive look of the natural park Drei Zinnen (Three Crenellations) is well known beyond the borders of South Tyrol and is one of the 9 mountain ranges within the Dolomites that are seen as UNESCO world cultural heritage. Here we find the Sextner Dolomites, marked by the contrast of gently rolling alpine pastures and their towering reef peaks, sometime over 3000 m high, surrounded by landfill sites. White is the colour of the mountain walls, giving them the name „pale mountains“ in the past. They originated from an interaction of limestone and a magnesium-containing solution. After sunset, one can marvel at the famous Alpine Glow here.
